The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) says it is tracking suspected accomplices in Ghana following the arrest of a Syrian national at Beirut in Lebanon with about 40 kilogrammes of suspected cocaine that was shipped through Accra’s Kotoka International Airport. The suspect was arrested at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut on Saturday, October 31, 2026, after arriving from Accra with the suspected drugs hidden in two pieces of luggage.

In a statement issued on Sunday, November 1, 2026, and signed by the Acting Director of Public Affairs and International Relations, Francis Opoku Amoah, NACOC said an operation was underway in Ghana to arrest the accomplices. The Commission explained that the arrest resulted from a coordinated controlled delivery exercise carried out through close operational cooperation between Ghanaian and Lebanese drug law enforcement authorities, designed to identify and apprehend persons involved at both ends of the drug supply chain, gather intelligence to dismantle the wider international criminal network behind the shipment, and disrupt drug trafficking networks operating across national borders.
