The Football Association has released GH¢100,000 to each of the 20 clubs competing in the Gold Fields Women’s Premier League, providing financial backing as the 2026/27 season gets underway. The payments, made on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, total GH¢2 million and fulfil the annual pledge by Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku to strengthen the finances of women’s football clubs in Ghana, with the funding intended to support club operations and contribute to the continued growth of the women’s game.

As part of the wider package, the Football Association will also cover the fees for referees and Match Commissioners for the entire season to reduce costs for participating clubs and support the efficient organisation of league fixtures. Each club will further receive 30 pairs of football boots to improve player welfare and support training and match-day requirements, along with fuel support from GOIL to help meet travel demands and souvenirs from Melcom, as all 20 clubs begin their campaign with the financial and logistical backing promised by the Association in line with President Simeon-Okraku’s commitment to the development and long-term growth of women’s football in Ghana.
