Ghanaian musician Wendy Shay has called on Nigerian airline Air Peace to reimburse her team for six flight tickets allegedly paid for in January but never confirmed, warning that she may petition the appropriate regulatory authorities if the outstanding refund is not settled promptly.

The singer, who is widely recognised for her hit song Bedroom Commando, made the demand in a post on X, where she accused the airline of failing to resolve the matter despite repeated attempts by her management team to obtain their money.

According to Wendy Shay, her team purchased six flight tickets through Air Peace’s official online booking platform in January. However, after completing payment, they reportedly received no booking confirmation from the airline.

She explained that the situation became particularly difficult because she had a scheduled musical performance in Nigeria and could not afford to risk missing the engagement while waiting for the airline to resolve the booking problem.

Consequently, her team was compelled to secure alternative flight arrangements to ensure that she could honour the scheduled performance.

The musician maintained that although the original payments had not resulted in confirmed bookings, efforts to recover the money had continued for several months without any satisfactory outcome.

She expressed further dissatisfaction with what she described as the airline’s unresponsive customer service arrangements, particularly concerning its operations in Ghana.

Wendy Shay questioned how an international airline could maintain operations in the Ghanaian market without establishing a dedicated customer service centre to address passengers’ complaints and other concerns.

She further alleged that whenever members of her team attempted to contact the airline for assistance, they were instructed to communicate with its Nigerian office through email. However, according to her, the correspondence had repeatedly gone unanswered.

The singer described the alleged treatment as unacceptable and demanded an immediate reimbursement of the money paid for the six tickets.

Issuing a firm warning to the airline, she stated that her team would escalate the matter to the relevant authorities if the refund was not processed without further delay.

In her public appeal directed at Air Peace, Wendy Shay reiterated that the original payment was made in January, that the absence of booking confirmation forced her team to purchase replacement tickets, and that subsequent attempts to secure reimbursement had proved unsuccessful.

She concluded by insisting that the airline must return the outstanding funds or face a formal complaint to the appropriate regulatory institutions.

The allegations have placed renewed attention on the importance of effective airline customer service, transparent ticketing procedures and timely refund arrangements, particularly for passengers who purchase international flight tickets through online platforms.

Air Peace has not provided a response in the account supplied. Its position on the allegations, including the circumstances surrounding the original transactions and the outstanding refund, would be necessary to establish the airline’s side of the dispute.
