Two foreign nationals have been taken into custody in Ghana in connection with the seizure of 46.7 kilogrammes of cocaine at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, Lebanon, over the weekend. The suspects are currently being held by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) as they assist investigators with ongoing enquiries into the bust.
The arrests were confirmed by the acting Director of Public Affairs at NACOC, Francis Opoku Amoah, who disclosed that the two were picked up on Monday, while a third suspect arrested in connection with the case has since been released after interrogation. The three persons initially picked up were identified as a Syrian, a Lebanese and a Tunisian national, all arrested in Ghana in relation to the Beirut seizure, with investigations still underway.
