The nine-member Awards Committee, chaired by veteran journalist Kobby Asmah, reviewed 326 entries across six divisions covering print, television, radio, online, digital and new media platforms.
The entries comprised 125 from online media, 111 from television, 46 from print and 45 from radio.

According to the Committee Chairman, the assessment process took place between October 7 and October 27, 2026, and covered journalistic productions published in 2025. The committee applied a 10-point assessment framework, with each entry scored out of 100 per cent.
The criteria included accuracy and factual integrity, newsworthiness, ethical standards, public impact, originality, clarity, depth of research, balance and technical quality.

Mr Asmah explained that an entry must score at least 70 per cent to qualify for an award. The assessment resulted in 36 citations across the award categories, culminating in the prestigious GJA-P.A.V. Ansah Journalist of the Year Award.

The GJA President, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, said the awards remained an important platform for celebrating journalists and media organisations whose work contributed to Ghana’s democratic governance, national development and socio-economic progress.

This year’s edition is being held under the theme: “Celebrating Excellence, Advancing Media Freedom and Combating Hate Speech in the Digital Age.”
Two new categories have also been introduced: the Best Digital and New Media Platform Award and the Bank of Ghana Governor’s Economic and Financial Story of the Year Award. The winners will be announced at the ceremony on Saturday, November 7, 2026.
