The NHIA Wa West district in the Upper West region has received an NHIS-branded Toyota pickup vehicle to support its operations. The handing-over ceremony took place at the forecourt of the Regional Coordinating Council, Wa, and was attended by the Upper West Regional minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, the NHIA regional director, Mr. Samuel Lobber Lekamwe, the NHIA regional Operations manager, Mr. Nuurideen Ahmed Ajansumah, the District manager for Wa West, Mr. Rashid Tindongo, and other management staff of the regional office.

The regional minister, on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NHIA, Hon. Dr. Okoe Boye, handed over the new vehicle to the district manager of Wa West. He highlighted that the lack of a vehicle in the Wa West district was a major challenge, which was addressed after the CEO and his team visited the region in July last year. He praised Dr. Okoe Boye as a competent leader who honors his promises. He urged the district to prioritize the maintenance of the vehicle to keep it operational for a long time, emphasizing its use for official operations or assignments only.
Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih encouraged the NHIA regional office team to maintain their able leadership, which has resulted in the region achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for three consecutive years. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the health needs of the people in the region and beyond are met.
The Wa West district manager expressed gratitude to Dr. Okoe Boye and NHIA Executive Management for the visionary gesture. He pledged the district’s commitment to improving its membership performance and thanked the regional minister and the NHIS regional director for their support in obtaining the operational vehicle. With the vehicle, staff will be able to reach hard-to-reach and deprived communities to ensure that no resident is left behind in NHIS enrollment. He assured Executive Management of the proper use of the vehicle for its intended purpose.
This move by NHIA executive management demonstrates their commitment to equipping district offices with the necessary logistics and resources for effective membership mobilization towards the achievement of Universal Health Coverage by 2030.
