The forward- march for Ghana's digitalisation program received yet another big boost yesterday at the Kempiski
Hotel in Accra.
The occasion was the launch of the newly developed application software called the CitizensApp.
The well-organised and attended program saw speakers like the Commissioner of Ghana Revenue Authority, Julie
Essiam, Minister of Finance, Mohammed Anta, Hon Joe Ghartey, Board Chairman of GRA, and the Vice President,
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the special Guest of Honour.
In his keynote address, the Vice President outlined the dividend envisaged in the newly developed application
software.
The software is designed to connect and coordinate government and all state agencies together to be on one network,
reducing bureaucracy, red-tapeism, and challenges associated with transactions in these organisations.
This will quicken the duration, removal of all corruptions, delays, and human interference.
If one wants to clear a car at the port, all the agencies can do one thing; for example the GRA's bit, DVLA's bit,
insurance bit will be on the application of the system without having to go to all these organisations one after the
other, queue up, spend long hours and greasing of palms, et al,” the Vice President said.
The Vice President stressed the role of digitalisation in today's industrial and economic space.
He stressed the steps his government has taken, especially with respect to Ghana Card, automation of some
government agencies, Momo transfers, financial digitalisation, paperless ports, interoperability, e- pharmacy, e-
commerce and many others.
He expressed his delight in the current state of digitalisation and the impact it's making on the economy.
He said Ghana is fully going to be digitalised to do away with the analogue way of doing things, which is going to
be a thing of the past.
This, according to the Veep, would speed up the economic growth of the country because of the today's world of the
fourth industrial revolution and the app has come at an opportune time.
The developer of the software explained the intricacies involved in the use of the new App. The audience that
attended the forum were happy with the development of the App and the job it is coming to do for the country.
