The Company, led by its Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer, Kwame Osei Prempeh has donated a tractor and a pickup which cost the company 710,000 Ghana Cedis to the Ghana Prison Service.

The Massey Ferguson 375 Tractor and Toyota Pickup are expected to augment the logistics capacity of the Ghana Prison Service and help produce food to feed inmates in a less arduous manner.

The Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of GOIL, Kwame Osei Prempeh was optimistic that the donation will go a long way to increase the food production of the service.

“During my reign as the Deputy Attorney General, I led a team aiming to try and negotiate prison reforms. I feel happy anytime I pass through their farms at Amanfro in Kumasi and Egyira because I believe that it is better than the overcrowded prisons that we have in this country. Therefore, we at GOIL say we open our doors to you,” he said.

The Director General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Isaac Kofi Egyir said “through this donation, we believe, and I can assure you, that it will help us accomplish our targeted goals. This will help us meet our target for next year, which is to increase from 30% to 40% our contribution to feed the inmates of the country, and we are so glad that you have given us these gifts.”

The handover ceremony took place at the Headquarters in Accra.

In a related development, GOIL has donated ten (10) multipurpose hospital beds, valued over GH¢40,000 to the Asuom Health Centre in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The leading oil marketing company, GOIL delivered the hospital beds in response to a distress request from natives of the Asuom township.

The Asuomhene, Osabarima Ofosuhene Apenteng II said “with much appreciation, we say God bless you, as the things you brought came at the right time. We shall endeavor to take good care of them so that a year to come, on your next visit, you will come and meet them in good shape.”
