A contractor working with the Juabeng Municipal Assembly was recently arrested for unclear reasons when he went to the assembly to demand monies the assembly owed him.
It is unclear the reason for the arrest, but he has since been granted bail.
Mr. Festus Agyei, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of M/ S Amofest Company Limited had allegedly gone to the Assembly to press for his withheld long term retention after a construction of a semidetached two bedroom as a staff quarters.
The contract, awarded 5 years ago, was funded by the District Assembly Common Fund but was never paid for due to lack of funds.
Sources state that the contract was terminated and later repackaged for internal assembly engineer who owns a construction firm.
The unlawful arrest however caused tension in the town as the youth in the municipality vehemently condemned such acts.
The contractor has threatened to sue the assembly for damages after advice from his lawyers.
