Manchester United’s run of three straight wins will be put on the line when they host local rivals and treble winners Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
Man Utd’s minor upturn in form has included league wins over Brentford and Sheffield United as well as a dramatic Champions League success against Kobenhavn, though it’s not enough for fans to have real confidence heading into the first Manchester derby of the season.
Premier League champions City may have experienced something of a wobble recently with defeats to Wolves and Arsenal but have got back on the horse with successes against Brighton and Young Boys.
Here’s all you need to know about the clash on Sunday.

Plenty of injuries and absentees remain for Erik ten Hag to deal with coming into this game, although the situation has improved a little in the last couple of weeks.
Casemiro is back from suspension but still a slight doubt due to injury, but Ten Hag is still likely to use him in such a big game. Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Amad Diallo, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jadon Sancho all remain out of contention, but there is a chance Kobbie Mainoo returns to the bench.
Manchester United predicted lineup vs Manchester City (4-2-3-1): Onana; Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Reguilon; Casemiro, Amrabat; Fernandes, Eriksen, Rashford; Hojlund.
Things are looking pretty good for Man City right now from a fitness perspective, with Kevin De Bruyne and Zack Steffen the only senior players out with injuries. De Bruyne remains a huge miss, but there is still plenty of attacking talent for Pep Guardiola to choose from.
After his red card in the last Premier League game, Manuel Akanji is suspended and will play no part against Man Utd.
Man City predicted lineup vs Man Utd (3-2-4-1): Ederson; Walker, Dias, Gvardiol; Stones, Rodri; Foden, Alvarez, Silva, Doku; Haaland.
This match may well have been more frightening for Man Utd fans had it been played back in September, when Man City looked unstoppable. However, Arsenal and Wolves have since beaten the champions, so it’s not implausible to imagine a home win.
That being said, Man Utd seem to have a self-sabotaging streak at the moment and this Man City team won’t let them get away with that. It might not be a total hammering like we’ve seen in the past, but expect Man City to take the points from Old Trafford.
