Hon. Engineer Addai Nimo who has contested for the position of Flag Bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on two previous occasions, is hoping that he would be lucky the third time. Addai Nimo contested ahead of the election in 2012 and again before the election in 2016, but did not find favor with NPP delegates.
Yesterday, he once again declared his readiness to battle it out with other aspiring NPP candidates for the race to lead the party to contest the 2024 presidential elections, with the hope that his message of a ‘Fresh Face’ will find favor with NPP delegates.
In a lengthy and loaded speech, the former lawmaker from Asante Mampong told the Press and the party faithful of his intention and vision to lead the party if elected to do so.
“There’s a time or season for new occurrences to happen under the sun; so today is a special day that has come rooted in my life, in my political journey, my aspirations dedicated to serving my people to improve the lives of Ghanaians ” he postulated.
He intoned that his leadership is fitted on uniting the rank and file of the party to extract the energies of the membership for a resounding victory.
He said that this calls for the harnessing of individual and collective experiences, expertise, and know-how whiles respecting the differing opinions in the party as well.
“We must foster UNITY and INCLUSIVENESS in the party if we want to BREAK the EIGHT. This demands new hands, faces, ideas, and energies that have unblemished records and no baggage,” he said.
Engineer Nimo emphasized the urgency of the party to actualize the BREAKING THE EIGHT mantra that must resonate with the desire and expectations of the Ghanaian voters. He indicated that the party needed a new leader who will serve the nation, the party, and the world with a new model of governorship in line with the current modern tenets to win the confidence of the people. He outlined three main benchmarks for 2024 victory: Internal Unity in the party; Improving and Consolidating The Gains of The NPP Government; Leaving NPP Delegates To Assess The Prospective Aspirants To Select The Most Suitable One Who Can Win Power In 2024.
“Would this not call for Fresh New Face that can bring the needed experience, expertise, and professionalism that can win the election if indeed we want to break the eight? “he asked.
He pointed out that the NEW FRESH FACE must be a NATURAL UNIFIER, FAULTLESS PERSON, A MAN WITH GOOD HISTORICAL RECORD, FRESH IN IDEAS AND ENERGY who can marshal and harness the challenging times and opportunities.
He distanced himself from all factions and hammered home the need to stop unhealthy alignments and attachments. He put forward a seven-point vision and promises he will pursue should he win the primaries for the party and Ghana.
He also dilated on some aspects of national development in areas like the Economy, Agriculture, Good Governance, Education, Health, Transport, Employment, etc. and his plans to solve the country’s numerous challenges.
The aspiring flag bearer called for a fair, free, transparent, and incorruptible election to elect the desired leader when the election comes up. As a result, he appealed to various leadership rungs in the party hierarchy to ensure a smooth path for the election to be held in a very clear, acceptable, decent manner for the best candidate to emerge at the end.
