The team qualified to the international tournament after finishing in second place on the Western Conference table, with 56 points in 34 games and a record of 16W-10L-8D. The achievement comes in Austin FC’s third year in Major League Soccer, after debuting as an expansion team in 2020.

Josh Wolff’s side now joins Supporters’ Shield winners LAFC and MLS Cup finalist Philadelphia Union, who secured the spot as the Eastern Conference winner, Canadian Championship winners Vancouver Whitecaps FC and US Open Cup champions Orlando City SC.

Though CF Montréal finished third in the overall MLS table, above Austin FC, they cannot compete in the upcoming tournament. Per Concacaf Champions League rules, only one Canadian team can secure a spot in the competition.

The reigning champions Seattle Sounders will not be back to defend their titles, after failing to qualify for the 2023 edition.

The official draw is set for November 7 in Miami, Florida, and will be conducted using a double-blind system with four pots.
