The two students, identified as 20 year old Oscar Amemasor and 18 year old Emmanuel Senunya, were facing charges of assault and abetment of assault following an incident that occurred in February 2026.

The incident was reportedly captured on video, with the footage subsequently circulating on social media and drawing attention to the case.

According to the prosecution, Amemasor allegedly attacked the victim with a metal bar, while Senunya was reportedly seen holding a cutlass during the incident. The two students were subsequently brought before the Ada West District Court to answer to the allegations.

During proceedings, the students initially entered pleas that were later changed to guilty. Their lawyer, Enock Teye Sewornu, told Citi News that the decision to alter the pleas was made after considering the circumstances of the case and what would serve the interests of his clients.

The court subsequently convicted both students and ordered them to enter into a 12 month bond to be of good behaviour.

Speaking after the proceedings, Mr Sewornu described the conclusion of the case as a relief for the students and their families, explaining that the court’s decision had brought the matter to an end without the students being subjected to a custodial sentence.

He further indicated that the two students had recently received their examination results and were preparing to pursue tertiary education. The resolution of the case, he said, would therefore enable them to continue with their educational plans.

The lawyer also expressed relief that the students would be able to return to school and proceed with their academic progression after the court imposed the 12 month good behaviour bond.

The case brings to a close the criminal proceedings arising from the February incident, although the students remain bound by the conditions of the court imposed bond during the specified period.
