Medeama SC will represent Ghana in next season’s CAF Champions League after clinching the 2025 and 2026 Ghana Premier League title in dominant fashion.
The Tarkwa based club secured the championship with one match remaining following an impressive victory over Heart of Lions on Sunday, officially confirming their status as league winners.
The triumph marks another significant chapter for Medeama SC, which continues to strengthen its reputation as one of Ghana’s most competitive sides on the continental stage after years of steady growth within African club football.
The club recorded its most historic continental achievement during the 2023 and 2024 campaign when it reached the group phase of the CAF Champions League for the first time in its history.
During that memorable run, Medeama was placed in a challenging Group D alongside African heavyweights Al Ahly SC, Young Africans S.C. and CR Belouizdad.
Although the Ghanaian side was unable to progress beyond the group phase, the experience represented a major breakthrough for the club and provided valuable exposure at the highest level of African club competition.
Before their Champions League breakthrough, Medeama SC had also enjoyed notable success in the CAF Confederation Cup.
In 2016, the club advanced to the group stage after eliminating Mamelodi Sundowns F.C. during the playoff round in one of the most memorable victories in the club’s continental history.
Medeama had earlier announced its arrival on the African football scene during its maiden continental appearance in 2014 when the club reached the playoff phase after knocking out Maghreb de Fès before narrowly falling to AC Léopards.
Following their latest domestic triumph, Medeama SC will now aim to build on their growing continental pedigree and deliver another strong performance in next season’s CAF Champions League.
