The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in the Upper West Region participated in an inter-departmental sports competition organized by the Ghana Health Service. The event was held at the B.K. Adama Multi-Purpose Youth Resource Centre in Wa.
The games aimed to foster unity among workers in the region, promote healthy lifestyles, and raise awareness about the prevention of non-communicable diseases through regular physical activity.

Participating institutions included the Ghana Health Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana Fire Service, Ghana Education Service, NHIA, Wa Magazine workers, SDD-UBIDS, and Bahass Foundation—a Wa-based NGO that supports individuals with mental health conditions.
Key activities featured Football, Volleyball, Sack Race, and 100m and 50m sprints for men and women, respectively.
Team NHIA competed fiercely across all disciplines, securing third place in Football, second place in Volleyball, and second place in the “Tag of Peace” event.
Notable personalities present and actively engaged in the sporting activities included the former Regional Director of Health Services (UWR), Dr. Damien Punguyire; current Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Josephat Nyuzaghl; and NHIA Regional Director, Mr. Rashid Mohammed Tindogo, among others.
In a brief address, Mr. Tindogo encouraged NHIA staff to incorporate regular physical activity into their routines and urged them to participate in the Ghana Health Service’s weekly Keep-Fit Club in Wa.
The NHIA in the Upper West Region remains committed to promoting staff wellness as a key strategy for achieving its performance targets.
