An increase in the Producer Price of Cocoa from GH¢ 48.000.00 per tonne (GH¢3,000.00 per bag of 64kg) to GH¢49, 600.00 per tonne (GH¢3,100 per bag of 64kg) has been increased to further cushion our Cocoa Farmers who rise early, labour tirelessly, and work with determination to ensure that Ghana remains fed and secure.
To ensuring that Ghanaian Cocoa Farmers receive fair compensation and remain competitive within the the global market, solid measures to further support our Cocoa Farmers were based on the recommendations of the Producer Price Review Committee which culminated government’s approval in the Producer Price of Cocoa, moving it from GH¢48,000 to GH¢49,600 per tonne as stated above.
This new increase, which took effect on Friday 8th November, 2024 is a testament to government’s commitment to ensuring that, as market conditions change, our farmers benefit from fair and evolving income reviews that reflect their hard work and dedication.
The move which aims to support Ghanaian Cocoa Farmers by offering an improved income, is expected to boost Farmers confidence, enhance income stability and strengthen the partnership between COCOBOD and the farming community.
With regard to the increase, COCOBOD will continue to institute measures and policies that contribute to the growth and sustenance of the Cocoa industry.
