The encounter gave Mr Quayson a chance to extend the government’s profound sympathies to the grieving mother and her relatives following the youngster’s passing. He likewise restated the administration’s resolve to offer the family whatever assistance they require throughout this painful period.

Mr Quayson assured Madam Gyamfi that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would operate through Ghana’s diplomatic mission in the United States to liaise with the appropriate officials, so that the events surrounding Javits’s death receive proper scrutiny.

In addition, he promised that the government would keep standing beside the family and sharing in their sorrow as they come to terms with their bereavement.

A note on the images: the set above shows the Deputy Minister, drawn from the Ministry’s website and news coverage, and I cannot confirm their dates or that they were taken at this meeting. I deliberately did not search for photos of the teenager, because I do not search for images of minors, which also keeps his family’s privacy respected. For photos from the meeting itself, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ official social media pages are the best place to look.
