Dr Jinapor disclosed this in a Facebook post on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, following a courtesy visit by a delegation from Burkina Faso’s national petroleum company, Société Nationale Burkinabè d’Hydrocarbures, popularly known as SONABHY.

The delegation was led by the company’s newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, Forogo Patrice, who expressed gratitude to the Government of Ghana for its continued assistance in facilitating the procurement and transit of petroleum products through Ghanaian territory.

During the engagement, the SONABHY delegation called for stronger bilateral cooperation to consolidate and expand the existing partnership between the two countries.

According to Dr Jinapor, discussions focused on identifying additional opportunities to improve the transportation and supply of petroleum products, strengthen regional energy cooperation and advance common objectives for the mutual benefit of Ghana and Burkina Faso.

The increase in the proportion of Burkina Faso’s petroleum products transported through Ghana, from 15 per cent to approximately 40 per cent within two years, underscores the growing role of Ghana’s transportation arrangements in supporting the neighbouring country’s fuel supply network.

The development also highlights the importance of cross border energy cooperation between the two West African countries, particularly in facilitating the movement of essential petroleum supplies and strengthening regional commercial links.

The meeting is expected to provide a platform for further discussions on improving petroleum logistics, enhancing supply arrangements and identifying practical measures to deepen cooperation between Ghana and Burkina Faso.

Both countries are seeking to build on their established relationship through closer coordination in petroleum transportation and regional energy supply, with the aim of advancing their shared economic and energy priorities.
