The Tema Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four students of Ada Senior High Technical School following a viral video that showed a student brandishing a cutlass and issuing threats against fellow students on campus, an incident that has raised concerns about discipline and safety in senior high schools.
According to a police statement issued on Friday, May 22, the incident came to the attention of law enforcement at approximately 12:10 a.m. after officers intercepted and reviewed the circulating footage on social media platforms.
The statement indicated that a police night patrol unit was immediately deployed to the school in response to the video, where officers intervened swiftly with the assistance of school authorities to restore order and secure the situation.
As part of the operation, police arrested Raymond Gyamfi, aged 18, Oscar Amemoair, aged 18, Odartey Wilson, aged 18, along with a juvenile who was also identified in the video as being involved in the incident.
The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the confrontation and the events leading up to it.
The police have urged students nationwide to resolve disputes through appropriate school disciplinary structures rather than resorting to violence, intimidation, or the possession of offensive weapons on school premises.
The Tema Regional Command also called on parents, guardians, and school administrators to strengthen supervision, guidance, and behavioural discipline among students in order to maintain safety, order, and a secure learning environment.
Authorities assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that further updates will be communicated as more details emerge.
