A heavy rainstorm that hit Dormaa West district in the Bono region has destroyed the oldest classroom block at Nkrantwanta Senior High Technical School.
The strong wind that accompanied the rain on Thursday, March 3, 2022 around 4:30pm lasted for almost two and half hours destroyed the roofs of the thirty (30) year old building with 5 classrooms, library and staff common room thereby destroying some learning materials for both teachers and students.

In an interview with Daily Searchlight’s Collins Fosu-Appiah, Public Relations Officer for the school, Samuel Dickson Akwaboah observed that the strong wind that accompanied the rain started around 4:30pm on Thursday and caused some damage to the oldest building that was built in 1992, some 30 years ago to begin the school.
Mr Akwaboah continued that the rainstorm destroyed the entire roofs of the classroom block that harbours Home Economics and the General Arts students by ripping-off leaving learning materials for teachers and students at the mercies of the rains.

He added that no human casualty was recorded in terms of injures because all the students were in their dormitories.
“Twenty-two (22) girls, one (1) boy and one (1) female staff got traumatized in their dormitories as a result of noise by the roofs and fainted so they were rushed to Nkrantwanta Government Hospital where they were admitted and responding to treatment.”
Authorities of the school are appealling to the assembly, MP, NADMO and other stakeholders as a matter of urgency come to the aid of the school to rehabilitate the damaged block since delay in doing so will affect academic work of the school.
Meanwhile, close source revealed that this afternoon (Friday, March 4, 2022), a delegation including the Bono Regional Minister, Madam Justina Owusu Banahene, Regional Education Director, DCE for Dormaa West, Mr. Oppong Kwadwo Francis and other personalities visited the students at the hospital and proceeded to the scene to access the length of the damage caused.
