According to Mr. Annoh Dompreh, he is particularly concerned about that project because its execution would dispel the notion held by people in the two regions that the government has failed the people of the Central and Western regions.

In answer, the Minister of Transport Kwaku Ofori Amankwaa said that the government of President Akufo-Addo is not in the business of deception.

“Indeed this particular project like I said concerning the port at Keta, is in the process, and we need to go through the process. So if people are looking for the actual construction to start, yes it will start, but without the feasibility study determining the level of infrastructure and the location, it cannot be possible,” Mr. Ofori Asiamah said on the floor of parliament today.

“We need the studies otherwise there would not be any data, any evidence to what we are saying, so I can assure this House, and the people of this country, that by the time the feasibility studies is completed, thankfully by the end of this year, next year we would start the procurement process, and by the third quarter you would see the construction of the airport.

“I think government has shown enough commitment, to this important project which would open up the western enclave to the foreign world. Has there been commitment? Indeed if you look at the budget, at page 54, he (the Minister of Finance) has made some allocation in the 2022 budget to complement the project so I think that with these two things, you can say that indeed government has indeed shown real commitment and I thank the Minister of Finance for making some allocation even before the budget is ready, to the consultant.”
