A widow, Mrs. Irene Osei Bomsompem, 50, used her birthday, which fell on 23rd September, to pay a visit to the ‘Hour of Grace Children’s Home’ at Huhunya near Nkurakan in the Eastern Region to celebrate her birthday.

She donated a bag of rice, soaps, bundles of toilet rolls and an amount of GHc500.00 to the orphanage.

Speaking at the ceremony, she said that the children need our help.

“So please let us help and support them, either in kind or cash, thank you,” she said.

In an interview with www.thedailysearchlight.com, she said, “I’m helping them because since the death of my husband in 2019, l haven’t been there and I decided to go there myself. So I went there last Thursday on my 50th birthday and spend time with them.”

She called on others who are similarly blessed to follow her example.

The Daily Searchlight finds the gesture by Mrs. Bosompem to be highly commendable and one that is worthy of emulation.

We believe that if others in our country can follow the example, it would go a long way towards ameliorating the conditions and hardships of those who are less privileged.

Although Mrs. Osei Bosompem cannot be said to be described by any step of imagination as wealthy, her decision to take this bold step to assist the less privileged can only be described as heartwarming, and we would plead with others more privileged to follow her example.

May God bless her, and reward her abundantly for this act!
