A United Kingdom-based agrifood investment company, Agrium Capital, has agreed to provide $270 million to support Ghana’s drive to transform the poultry industry.
The company signed the deal with the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme (24H+) in London on Thursday, October 22, 2026. This follows an earlier Heads of Terms agreement signed by both parties on August 22 this year. The signing ceremony, which moves the investment plan into its next stage of development, was witnessed by partners including Petra Trust, Axis Pension Trust, and Ghana EXIM Bank.

The latest agreement, described as an addendum, will advance the technical and investment work needed to turn the framework into a viable poultry industry. The project is expected to greatly increase local poultry production, improve food security, create 12,000 direct jobs and cut Ghana’s $400 million annual bill on imported chicken and poultry products. The first phase is projected to produce 20,000 tonnes of dressed and processed broiler products yearly, with the capacity to scale up to 50,000 tonnes.
