The headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, Zakaria Abdulai, has been suspended by the Ghana Education Service (GES) following allegations of sexual misconduct involving female students. The suspension is pending a full investigation into the claims.
Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu directed the GES to suspend Abdulai to protect students and ensure a safe learning environment. The allegations sparked student protests, resulting in property damage and the school’s temporary closure. Abdulai has been asked to hand over management to the Ashanti Regional Director of Education and cooperate with investigations.

The GES has assured the public of its commitment to safeguarding students and upholding professional standards. The police have been notified, and an investigation is underway.
