The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has unveiled a staggering filing fee regime for aspirants seeking to contest various national executive positions, with the coveted National Chairman slot attracting a colossal GH¢100,000.
The approved financial structure covers 14 strategic positions, spanning from National Chairman and General Secretary to National Organisers, Communications Officers, Youth and Women’s Organisers, and members of the National Executive Committee.
Under the newly sanctioned arrangement, aspirants eyeing the positions of National Vice Chairman and General Secretary will each be required to cough up GH¢80,000, while those with ambitions for National Organiser will part with GH¢70,000.
The fees constitute a critical component of the party’s elaborate arrangements for its impending internal elections to select formidable officers who will superintend its national administration and organisational machinery.
According to the approved schedule, all financial transactions are to be executed exclusively online via the designated party portal, http://forms.ghanandc.com.
The National Chairman position commands the highest filing fee at GH¢100,000, followed closely by the General Secretary position pegged at GH¢80,000.
The National Organiser position attracts GH¢70,000, while the National Vice Chairman and Deputy General Secretary positions each demand GH¢60,000.
Aspirants seeking the influential National Communication Officer position will pay GH¢50,000, while the National Youth Organiser and National Zongo Caucus Coordinator positions each attract GH¢40,000.
The deputy organiser portfolios, including Deputy National Organiser, Deputy National Communication Officer and Deputy National Youth Organiser, carry filing fees of GH¢30,000 each.
The same amount applies to the National Women’s Organiser and Deputy National Women’s Organiser positions, subject to special provisions for female candidates with disabilities.
National Executive Committee (NEC) membership carries the lowest filing fee on the schedule, pegged at GH¢10,000.
The approved schedule further stipulates that aspirants seeking to contest any of the positions will pay GH¢2,000 to obtain a nomination form.
In a progressive move, the approved fee structure provides substantial concessions for female candidates and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Under the arrangement, female candidates and persons with disabilities will pay 50 per cent of the approved filing fees for all positions, except the National Women’s Organiser and Deputy National Women’s Organiser positions.
