The Office of the Member of Parliament for Madina, Dr Francis Xavier Sosu, has confirmed that the legislator is doing well after he collapsed while delivering a speech at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
Dr Sosu was addressing an audience at GIMPA on his personal experiences, leadership and commitment to public service when he suddenly appeared to lose consciousness while speaking from the stage.
Moments before the incident, the Madina legislator had urged the audience to regard service as a defining attribute of effective leadership.
“I respectfully submit that if you want to be a good leader, let service be your hallmark,” he said shortly before pausing and appearing to collapse.
Those present at the event immediately moved towards the stage to assist him. The MP briefly appeared to recover and seemed prepared to continue with his address, but subsequently began to slump again.
He was then helped away from the podium and taken for medical attention. Video footage of the incident circulated widely on social media, prompting concern about his condition.
In a statement issued later on Thursday, the Office of the Madina MP sought to reassure the public, confirming that Dr Sosu had received the necessary medical attention and was doing well.
The statement, signed by Ivan Dzakpasu, Chief of Staff at the Office of the Member of Parliament for Madina, also acknowledged the reports, videos and other material circulating on social media following the incident.
The office urged the public to remain calm and cautioned against relying on unverified reports or speculation concerning the MP’s condition.
It further expressed appreciation to constituents, supporters and well wishers for their concern, prayers and numerous messages of support following the incident.
The office said any additional information would be communicated through its official channels when necessary. It did not disclose further details about the nature of the incident or the medical attention received.
