Addressing delegates at the 10th Ghana CEO Summit, Dr. Asiama stated that Ghana has arrived at a defining phase in its economic progression after enduring years of international disruptions, domestic fiscal pressures, and instability within the financial sector.

According to him, the national discussion should no longer focus on whether the country can regain stability, but rather on whether the current recovery can evolve into a lasting platform for economic prosperity, industrial strength, and broad based national development.

Speaking on the theme “Monetary Stability, Financial Sector Reform and Industrial Growth: Driving Ghana’s Economic Transformation from Vision to Action,” the Governor stressed that meaningful economic advancement cannot be achieved through outdated strategies or isolated policy initiatives. He explained that genuine transformation demands courageous leadership, synchronized policy direction, technological advancement, resilient institutions, and sustained public trust in the agencies responsible for managing the national economy.

Dr. Asiama explained that although Ghana has endured severe economic difficulties in recent years, the present moment also offers a rare opportunity to transform national ambition into practical achievements capable of improving livelihoods, empowering businesses, and restoring confidence throughout the economy.

He described macroeconomic stability as the essential pillar supporting economic expansion and industrial development. He noted that controlled inflation together with predictable exchange rate conditions remain indispensable for business confidence, investment growth, and employment creation.

The Governor further indicated that uncertainty in prices and currency performance weakens long term planning for enterprises while discouraging investors from committing substantial capital to the economy. In his view, confidence in economic management remains fundamental to attracting sustainable investment and maintaining business expansion.

Dr. Asiama disclosed that the Bank of Ghana has implemented decisive interventions aimed at rebuilding credibility and restoring stability following prolonged economic turbulence characterised by inflationary pressures, weakened investor sentiment, and difficult international financing conditions.

He explained that the central bank’s monetary strategy has concentrated on restoring institutional credibility, strengthening the monetary policy structure, rebuilding foreign reserves, and stabilising market expectations through disciplined implementation measures.

According to the Governor, inflationary pressures have eased considerably, foreign exchange market conditions have improved, reserve accumulation has strengthened significantly, and confidence across the economy has gradually recovered.

Despite these gains, Dr. Asiama cautioned that the international economic climate remains unpredictable, especially due to escalating geopolitical tensions and persistent volatility in commodity prices. Referring to the ongoing instability in the Middle East, he noted that recent developments continue to demonstrate the fragile nature of the global economy.

He added that the central bank’s decision to reinforce international reserves during the previous year has positioned Ghana to absorb external shocks more effectively than several comparable economies because the country deliberately strengthened its resilience ahead of emerging global uncertainties.

The Governor also revealed that the central bank has introduced additional reforms intended to reinforce policy credibility and improve the effectiveness of monetary management. These initiatives include enhanced liquidity management operations, stronger reserve accumulation programmes, improved transparency standards, and greater accountability within policy implementation processes.

Dr. Asiama explained that these measures are designed not only to maintain economic stability but also to encourage sustainable growth, attract investor confidence, and strengthen Ghana’s long term economic outlook.

The 10th Ghana CEO Summit assembled policymakers, corporate executives, and industry stakeholders to deliberate on strategies capable of accelerating Ghana’s economic transformation through leadership, innovation, institutional reforms, and industrial expansion.
