Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has expressed firm confidence that the Black Stars possess the quality and mentality required to compete strongly against any opponent at the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The forward, who currently plays in the English Premier League, stated in an interview with FIFA that the global tournament stage would not intimidate him or his teammates, adding that Ghana’s objective is to demonstrate its strength against the world’s leading football nations.

Semenyo indicated that his mindset remains focused on victory and performance rather than pressure, stressing that the competition presents an opportunity for Ghana to prove its standing among football’s elite.

He further emphasized that facing top international players would serve as motivation rather than a source of fear, noting that Ghana’s squad is determined to show cohesion, quality and the ability to secure results against highly ranked opponents.

Ghana, a four time African champion, will participate in the World Cup for the fifth time in its history, with the tournament scheduled to be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The Black Stars have been placed in Group L, where they will compete against Panama, England and Croatia in the group stage.

Their opening fixture is scheduled against Panama at BMO Field in Toronto on June 17, followed by a high profile clash with England in Boston on June 23. The team will conclude its group stage matches against Croatia at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on June 27.

After exiting at the group stage in both the 2014 and 2022 editions of the tournament, Ghana will be aiming to advance beyond the first round and mount a deeper run in the 2026 competition.
