The third prosecution witness in the ongoing criminal proceedings involving former Kwabena Adu-Boahene has informed an Accra High Court that a GH¢7.2 million transfer reflected in banking records was deposited into the account operated by the Director of the National Signals Bureau rather than the institution’s principal corporate account.

The witness, Mildred Donkor, made the disclosure during an intense cross examination session held on Thursday, May 14, as legal representatives for the accused sought to challenge the prosecution’s presentation of financial transactions connected to the matter before the court.

Counsel for the accused, Samuel Atta Akyea, questioned the witness extensively over bank documents submitted by the defence and attempted to establish whether the amount in question had been transferred directly into an official account belonging to the National Signals Bureau or into an account associated with the Director of the agency.

Responding to the line of questioning, the witness insisted that the funds were credited to the Director’s account and not the institution’s general operational account.

“My Lord, the lodgement was made to the Director of the National Signals Bureau, as I previously indicated,” Madam Mildred Donkor stated before the court.

The hearing was characterised by prolonged exchanges between lawyers for the accused persons and the office of the Deputy Attorney General, particularly over objections, procedural interruptions and responses connected to financial transfers, currency conversion rates and transaction approvals.

Throughout the proceedings, defence lawyers repeatedly confronted objections raised by the prosecution while pressing the witness on details surrounding the movement of funds and the authorisation processes attached to the transactions under scrutiny.

Despite several objections from the Deputy Attorney General, the court permitted the witness to respond to the majority of the questions posed by counsel for the defence after many of the objections were dismissed.

At a certain stage of the proceedings, the presiding judge, Justice Achibonga, openly expressed frustration over what the court considered excessive attention to comparatively minor details relating to exchange rate calculations connected to the transactions.

“Do not waste my time with these minor matters,” the judge remarked during the hearing.

Kwabena Adu-Boahene, together with his wife Angela Boateng and Advantage Solutions Limited, is standing trial over allegations involving the alleged diversion of GH¢49 million earmarked for the acquisition of cybersecurity software for government operations.

According to the prosecution, the funds were allegedly transferred through several corporate entities before eventually being channelled into Advantage Solutions Limited and subsequently used in the acquisition of landed properties situated in Accra, Kumasi and London.

The matter has been adjourned to Wednesday, May 20, 2026, when cross examination of the third prosecution witness is expected to continue before the Accra High Court.
