President John Dramani Mahama has called for swift and decisive action to transform long-standing discussions on Africa’s financial architecture into tangible development outcomes across the continent.
He made the appeal during an interview with CNN journalist Larry Madowo at the Kenya and France Africa Forward Summit, where leaders and stakeholders examined strategies for strengthening African multilateral institutions and improving access to development finance.
According to John Dramani Mahama, the discussions at the summit centred on how African countries can secure more affordable capital to accelerate infrastructure development, economic transformation, and long-term growth.
“I just came out of a session on African multilateral and financial institutions and how to leverage cheaper capital for Africa’s development,” he said.
The President emphasised that while dialogue and policy conversations have been extensive over the years, the current moment demands execution rather than further deliberation.
“It is time to move on it,” he stated, stressing that the outcomes of the summit should serve as a catalyst for practical reforms in development financing across Africa.
John Dramani Mahama further expressed confidence that continued engagement among African financial institutions and international partners would strengthen cooperation and improve access to funding for development priorities.
He added that such collaboration would ultimately support broader economic growth and help address the continent’s persistent financing constraints.
The remarks underscore growing pressure among African leaders to shift from policy dialogue to implementation as part of ongoing efforts to reshape the continent’s financial and development architecture.
