Honourable Sulemmanna Yahaya has been unanimously retained as the Presiding Member (PM) for Banda District Assembly, securing a second consecutive term in office.
The election witnessed by 17 Assembly Members, district officials, traditional authorities, and key stakeholders in accordance with Section 17 of the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936), which requires a presiding member to be elected by a two -thirds majority of members present and voting.
Honourable Sulemmanna Yahaya who ran unopposed received a 100 percent endorsement from the Assembly Members.
The election was supervised by the officials from the Electoral Commission (EC), with the results declared by the District Director of the EC, Madam Naomi Kyekye.
Speaking to the media after the election, Honourable Sulemmanna Yahaya who received a 100 percent endorsement from the Assembly Members expressed profound gratitude to the Honourable members.
He reiterated that his endorsement from the Assembly Members demonstrates strong confidence in his leadership and stewardship over the period.
He pledged to lead with an open mind and fairness, and to make himself available to support the work of the Assembly.
He also assured to prioritize the welfare of the Assembly Members.
