The Wenchi Methodist Hospital has held a simulation exercise to sensitize management, staff and patients on fire safety protocols and precautionary measures to take when there is a disaster.
The exercise was also done to validate and enhance the hospital’s preparedness and response plans, procedure and systems for other hazards.
The simulation exercise was held in collaboration with the National Fire Service and the National Ambulance Service. It saw officers educating management and staff on the need to call the relevant institution for swift interventions as well as the need to ensure their lives and properties.
Speaking after the exercise, the Wenchi Municipal Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service, DO2 John Oppong Kusi said it is part of the regulations that institutions should organise simulation exercises for their staff and customers.
DO2 John Oppong Kusi further explained that the security of management, staff and customers of the facility was important, hence the need to test how the staff and customers would respond in an emergency situation.
The CEO of Wenchi Methodist Hospital, Nana Kwaku Kyei expressed gratitude to the Ghana National Fire Service for such an exercise.
He said the welfare of management, staff and customers need not be the concern, if all adhere to the safety standards.
