For the sake of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by the year 2030, the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Chief Executive, Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye has called for depoliticization of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
He said rather, Ghanaians should appreciate the Scheme’s expanded Benefit Package and sign up for improved healthcare services.
As part of his two days working visit, the NHIA Boss was responding to concerns raised by staff at a durbar in Sefwi Wiaso, in the Western North Region.
According to him, the NHIS  which became fully operational in the year 2004 has largely become a national asset, and advocated the need for a collective  support to ensure its growth and sustainability.
He advised that NHIA staff recruitments, transfers, reassignments and promotions should be done legitimately and not used as a tool for political witch-hunting.
He reaffirmed the Governing Board and Executive Management’s forward march to improve staff welfare.
Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye said government was committed to permanently absorb dialysis treatment in the NHIS Benefit Package.
The frontline staff applauded the Staff Welfare Package initiated to boost their performance and productivity.
Dr. Fa-Costa Aboagye on October 16, 2024 embarked on a working visit to the Western North, Savannah and Northern Regions.
