A spokesperson for the 2028 New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has criticised the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, over his response to resurfaced old videos.

The comments come amid increasing social media backlash over what critics say are contradictions between the Minister’s past and present positions.

The controversy stems from viral videos of Samuel George while in opposition, in which he made strong claims and promises that appear inconsistent with his current role in government.

Critics have accused him of abandoning principles he once championed including his strong advocacy to criminalise LGBTQ+.

In response, the Minister said his past comments reflected his efforts and sacrifices to help the National Democratic Congress (NDC) return to power.

Reacting to this, Miracles Aboagye argued that the explanation only deepens public concern about political integrity.

He described the Minister’s defence as scandalous and an admission of deception.

“In summary, the Hon. Minister is telling his citizens, he had to say whatever he had to say just to win power. This is the most scandalous statement by any politician in recent times,” he said in a social media post on Wednesday, April 1.

He further accused the Minister and his party of hypocrisy, citing issues such as sole sourcing, galamsey and the ongoing SIM re-registration exercise—policies he said the NDC once fiercely opposed.

“Sam, spare us the ‘I paid my dues’ memoir… The problem is what you were fighting for, and the blatant hypocrisy staring Ghanaians in the face today,” he added.

Miracles Aboagye stressed that old videos circulating online are not propaganda but evidence of past positions, adding that Ghanaians are closely monitoring the actions of government officials against their previous promises.
