Sarkodie and Shatta Wale
The legendary Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has disclosed that dancehall artist Shatta Wale is pushing him to incorporate more singing into his songs, referring to it as the next stage of his career.
In an interview with Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio on Hitz FM, Sarkodie recalls sending Shatta Wale a video of himself singing on one of his recordings. He claims that the “Dancehall King” encouraged him to sing more while complimenting his skill.
Sarkodie stated, “He told me I should do more singing because I’m good at it.”
Sarkodie acknowledged that he has composed a number of songs with singing, but he still feels more at ease with his rap energy in spite of the encouragement.
He admitted, “I’ve written a lot of singing songs, but I feel a bit uncomfortable with it.” “I’ve always felt most at home and energized by rap.”
