Indian Super League (ISL) side, FC Goa recently confirmed that defender Seriton Fernandes and midfielder Princeton Rebello signed new contracts with them and the duo have now opened up on their hopes and future at the club.
FC Goa struggled in the ISL last season, managing to win only four out of the 20 games they played in the league, which saw them finish a lowly ninth in the points table. Fernandes and Rebello for their part opened up on their desire to help the club return back to winning ways in the upcoming season.
“We’ve been a regular presence in the top-four of the ISL league stages over the past few seasons. Our 2021-22 campaign was an exception. It hurts to remember that we finished in ninth place. That said, lessons have been learned and we know that we have what it takes to restore our status as one of the best teams in the league,” Rebello told FC Goa’s media team.
“That’s what I expect, nothing less. We have to qualify for the playoffs and compete for the trophy,” Fernandes added.
The Gaurs poor performance last season saw the club management decide to appoint former player, Carlos Pena as the head coach for the 2022/23 campaign and it will be interesting to see how they perform under the Spaniard.
