The newly sworn-in National Executive Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has extended a hand to two of its young stalwarts to appear before the party’s National Disciplinary Committee.
The invitation is to give the two invited gentlemen, Hon. Ekow Vincent Assafuah and Mr. Hopeson Adorye, the opportunity to speak to certain comments they made in support of certain candidates in the party’s upcoming presidential election.
Given the stakes at stake in the upcoming race to choose a person to lead the NPP into election 2024, there can be no doubt, at all, that the stakes are going to be high, and the tension great.
Against that background, it would not be surprising to see some of the candidates and their supporters flying too close to the centre of the storm and causing unnecessary ruffles.
In such a scenario, it is likely that tempers might fly and fray, and people might seek to score unnecessary advantage.
Such a scenario would require a strong party leadership able to calm nerves and impose order, and we believe that the new executive led by Mr. Steven Ntim has set off on a positive tune.
We hope that all would give them their support, and not misinterpret their actions as suggestive of undermining any candidate.
To the candidates and their supporters, it is necessary that they realize, that it would be wise to get to the other side of the face as a united set of men and women.
