Boadu was convicted on a charge of defrauding by false pretence.

Presenting the facts before the court, Police Sergeant Douglas Addae said the complainant, Harriet Clement, is a businesswoman based in Tarkwa.

According to the prosecution, in July 2025, the complainant was at home when Boadu and another man, identified as Papa Yaw, who is currently on the run, visited her with a quantity of gold, claiming they wanted to sell it.

Sergeant Addae told the court that the complainant expressed interest and asked for the price, and the two men quoted GH¢3,700. She subsequently handed over the money to Boadu, who in turn gave her the gold.

However, days later, when her husband, Kobby Danquah, attempted to resell the gold, a gold dealer informed them that it was fake.

The prosecution said the complainant and her husband later mounted a search for Boadu and spotted him in Tarkwa on August 12, 2025. He was arrested and handed over to the police.

During police interrogation, Boadu admitted to the offence and mentioned Papa Yaw as his accomplice, but failed to assist officers in apprehending him.
