Jekora Ventures donates litter bins to Plastic Police Project to support the collection of plastic waste

Jekora Ventures, a private waste management company has donated five (240) blue colour litter bins to Plastic Police project (PPP), a pressure group at a brief ceremony on the premises of the waste management company in Accra.

The gesture forms part of the initiatives and programmes rolled out by the waste management company to partner plastic waste collectors, users as well as players in the plastic waste value chain to ensure effective and efficient management and collection of plastic waste in the country.

Presenting the bins, the Innovation Manager of Jekora Ventures, Madam Martha Adjoa Annan said the donation falls in line with the awareness creation and the commitment by the company to address the plastic menace in the Korle- KlotteyMunicipality.

According to her, the target places of the plastic waste collection will include markets, churches, streets, transport terminals, lorry parks, washing bays among others and explained however that periodic exercise of such clean ups in the metropolis and the country at large will help reduce the plastic menace in the country.

She therefore urged stakeholders in the plastic waste sector to adequately draw up modalities in recycling the plastic waste with the appropriate technology into other productive and commercial items and facilities.

The Project Animator of Plastic Police Project, Mr. Ben Lartey receiving the litter bins said it will scale up the operations of the project in its bid to contribute and address the plastic menace which have engulfed many parts of the Korle-Klottey electoral area.

He said the primary objective of the project is to ensure that the surroundings of the metropolis is kept clean and creates also the awareness of environmental cleanliness in our respective jurisdictions adding that their corporate vision is to ensure zero plastic waste in sight.

Throwing more light on areas designated for the collection, he mentioned Ministries, schools, beaches, fitting shops, mosques, events centers and the Odawna basin.

He expressed his unflinching gratitude to the management of Jekora Ventures and urged other waste management companies to emulate the shining example of the company.
