The Kwahu South Municipal Assembly has hosted the 41st Farmers’ Day celebration, with a fervent appeal to the government to include the municipality in the Big Push agenda to address its poor road network.
Nana Opatako Gyeko Antwi Boasiako, Chief of Pltiku town, lamented the lack of job opportunities for the youth in Kwahu South, urging the government to intervene.
“There are a lot of youth in Kwahu South, but there is no job for them to do. We are appealing to the government to come to our aid,” he said.
Hon. Davis Opoku Ansah, Member of Parliament for Mpraeso pleaded with the government to ensure that the municipality benefits from the 245 million cedis allocated to support farmers. “The money is also supposed to benefit us,” he emphasized.
Mr. Evans Domey Amartey, best farmer, encouraged fellow farmers to strive for excellence to reap benefits. He also urged the president to prioritize fixing the area’s poor roads to facilitate transportation and reduce food losses.
The farmers are calling on the government to address the deplorable state of their roads, which often results in food spoilage. The plea underscores the need for infrastructure development to support agricultural productivity and the local economy.
