Nsapo, (Bono), July 27, GNA – The Ghana Medical Relief (GMR) has extended its medical outreach to the World of Friends Children Home at Nsapo in the Berekum West District of the Bono Region, sensitising the inmates on oral hygiene care.
The GMR is a registered Non-profit humanitarian Organisation in Ghana and the United States and works to provide free healthcare services to people.
A team of Dentists and Medical officers from the organisation educated the inmates, in line with the just ended 2025 medical outreach mission, which provided free healthcare services to over 10,000 residents in the Municipality.
They also presented an undisclosed sum of money for the upkeep of the home, as well as quantities of toothpaste and toothbrushes, urging the inmates to thoroughly clean their teeth before retiring to bed and first thing in the morning.
Dr Ebo Rockson, the Vice-President of GMR and the Head of the Dental Team, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of the sensitisation that the event was aimed at inculcating good oral hygiene practices into the inmates, to improve their health.
He explained that during the five-day medical outreach held at the Berekum Holy Family Hospital, the team attended to many patients with cavities and that prompted them to extend oral hygiene care to benefit the inmates.
Madam Dorothy Serwaa Akoto, the Caretaker at the World of Friends Children’s Hope said the Home, which was established in 1994, currently it had 27 inmates, with additional 14 of them in Senior High Schools, three in Nursing and Midwifery Training Colleges and two in Colleges of Education.
She said 28 of the inmates had also graduated from tertiary institutions and thanked the donors for their support.
Mr Alfred Gborgla, a Social Welfare Officer attached to the Home, commended the management for their support towards the proper upbringing and development of the inmates.
