Report by Edward FRIMPONG
The Programme Migration and Diaspora, which is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development has launched a free online financial literacy training program to empower women.
The E-learning training module leverages money transfers received as remittances from the Diaspora which is being implemented by the German Cooperation (GIZ) in Ghana and is expected to improve the empowerment of women through financial literacy, particularly for those who receive remittances from abroad.
The Head of Sustainable Economic Development at GIZ Ghana at the launch said GIZ seeks to create a future worth living around the world thus providing an engaging and robust online training product for women in remittance-receiving households and to deliver this successfully to a pilot cohort of women.
He said this will help improve the skills and confidence of women in using digital financial services so that they are better able to invest a portion of remittances for sustainable economic development.
