Food for All Africa commemorated International School Meals Day and the 11th African Day of School Feeding with a community event in Amanhyia, bringing together over 900 participants, including students from three beneficiary schools within the Eastern region, parents, teachers, and partners.

A total of 898 nutritious meals were served, reaching 831 students, as well as 50 parents and 17 teachers, highlighting the organization’s commitment to improving education through nutrition.

This year’s meals were further enhanced with spirulina, a highly nutritious, natural supplement provided by partners Chale Spirulina. Rich in protein, iron, vitamins, and antioxidants, spirulina supports child growth, boosts immunity, improves energy levels, and helps address micronutrient deficiencies—making it an important addition to school feeding programmes.

“This year’s theme, Education and Nutrition: The Foundation for a Healthy Future, reminds us that children learn better when they are well nourished,” said Nelson Agboba, Operations Manager of Food for All Africa. “School meals improve concentration, attendance, and overall child development.”

The Head Teacher of Amanhyia reported significant improvements in student health, academic performance, and participation in sports since the introduction of the feeding programme within the school last year . School enrolment has also increased from approximately 470 to 560 pupils, although this growth has placed pressure on infrastructure and classroom resources.

The breakfast programme, supported by partners including MrBeast (through Feastables), has helped ensure pupils remain in school throughout the day, addressing previous challenges where some children left early due to hunger.

Parents expressed appreciation for the programme, noting that it has reduced the financial burden on households and improved school attendance. Students also reported better concentration and academic performance.

Looking ahead, Food for All Africa announced plans to establish the LunchBox Central Kitchen in Accra, which will produce up to 10,000 meals daily in its first year, scaling to 20,000 meals within three years.

The organization reaffirmed its commitment to expanding school feeding programmes to ensure no child goes hungry while learning.
