Former Member of Parliament; Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has disclosed that a U S senator has confided in him that if there’s the need to select an African leader as the President of the world, Dr Bawumia is the perfect choice for that position.
Speaking to the host of Joy TV current affairs program, Evans Mensah, he revealed that he had attended a program in the United States of America where he met a member of the Senate who said he has so much respect for the former Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia and thinks he qualifies to be a ‘world president’.
The former Majority Leader intimated that he was stunned with the statement and pressed home for his reasons for this opinion.
According to him, the man extoled Dr Bawumia for his knowledge, ingenuity, vision, character, leadership style and good relationship.
The senator wondered why Ghanaians could dispense with the presidency with the caliber of the innovative Dr Bawumia in whom he has so much belief and trust.
Mr Kyei Mensah Bonsu was being interviewed on the forthcoming NPP presidential elections slated for 31st January, 2026 and the aftermath of the annual delegates’ conference and his choice of candidacy for 2028 general elections.
Expressing his opinion, the former leader of the party advocated that with the incoming elections, he would expect delegates to vote for Dr Mahamadu Bawumia who has all the qualities of a blameless worthy leader of the great NPP party.
He claims Dr Bawumia possesses good character, super ideas, vision, ingenuity innovations, forbearance and education that will benefit the party and the country at large.
He stated that Dr Bawumia has the temperament, endurance and expertise to be a leader of the great NPP party because with the current state of the party Dr Bawumia is overly qualifies to be the flag bearer of the party.
“All other contestants, though good, cannot match the former Vice President,” he claimed.
The leader said any leader who wants to lead the party must be a real presidential material with good record and not a mere flag bearer and fanciful leader.
He assessed the capacities and capabilities of the aspiring candidates and put Dr Bawumia ahead of the aspirants because of his experience and knowledge, which are immeasurable and unquantifiable.
He gave the history of the party’s flag bearership records which he thinks must also be made available to Dr Bawumia for a second chance.
This is because it was offered to J. A. Kufuor and Nana Akufo Addo in 1996, 2008, 2012, 2020.
