In recent times the Overlord of Ashanti Kingdom has put his foot down by destooling long-serving chiefs who disrespect his directives on particularly issues.

However, according to one chief, it takes courage to make such decisions, particularly when the persons affected could be friends who have previously served the kingdom well.

The Executive Director for Corruption Combat International, Nana Kwadwo Amoah Ampem Okogyeabour has applauded Otumfour Osei Tutu II for his strict actions against some chiefs within the Ashanti kingdom for committing various forms of crimes.

He was optimistic that the dethronement spree they have been experiencing in recent times at the Manhyia palace is a very great move that is helping to sanitize the system.

Nana Kwadwo Amoah Ampem Okogyeabour who doubles as the great grandson of Otumfuo Osei Tutu I and also the investigative chief for the Manhyia Palace said, he foresees many of such chiefs following the line of dethronement.

According to him, there were still some chiefs who keep putting up bad behaviours that denigrates the great kingdom.

He has however appealed to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to add more chiefs to serve as deterrent.

He was speaking in an exclusive interview with this newspaper.

Nana Kwadwo Amoah Ampem recently joined residents of Donyina to call for the installation of a new queen mother. He further applauded the Ashanti Overlord for his quick intervention in helping the residents to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

According to him, all directions point to a clear fact that Donyina is going to get a new queen mother.

He stated that notwithstanding the accusations of some authorities over the machinations of the process at the earlier stage, he however pleaded with Otumfour to punish anyone who may be found culpable.

“There were some people who tried to corrupt the process and I believe Otumfuo Osei Tutu II knows best and can know how to deal with such,” he said.

According to him, in the coming week or month chiefs who disrespect the directives and customs and traditions must prepare for their exit from their thrones.

He further explained that Ashanti stools are not for sale and must be maintained by those who are from proper lineages.
