Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye, has faced another defeat in his bid to halt a defamation lawsuit filed by lawyer and journalist Samson Lardy Anyenini. The Court of Appeal in Kumasi rejected Abronye’s application to stay proceedings on October 21st, 2026, with the court ordering him to pay GH¢10,000 in costs. This marks at least the third time Abronye has lost in his attempts to block the case from moving forward.
The lawsuit, filed in April 2025, revolves around purportedly slanderous remarks aired on Wontumi TV and Radio, alleging that Mr. Samson Lardy Anyenini is a dishonest and corrupt individual who accepted a US$50,000 bribe to tarnish the reputation of Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, a Member of Parliament, on his Newsfile programme. Mr. Samson Anyenini denies the allegations and is seeking damages and other reliefs against Wontumi Multimedia Company Limited, its host Kwaku Kyeremanteng Nkansah, and Abronye.

With the latest ruling, the defamation case will proceed, and Abronye will have to answer to the allegations. The case has been pending for approximately 18 months, and Abronye has yet to file a Statement of Defence.
