Ghanaian media executive Bola Ray has tipped rapper Kweku Smoke and singer Lasmid’s collaborative single “Faith” to contend strongly for the Best Collaboration of the Year award at the next Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
Bola Ray expressed his prediction after Kweku Smoke delivered a live performance of the song at a surprise birthday celebration organised for Dr Maxwell “Pallasco” Boakye, following a request from highlife musician Bisa Kdei.
The endorsement has placed renewed attention on “Faith”, a soulful and introspective hip hop record released by Kweku Smoke on August 27, 2026, with Lasmid contributing the melodic vocal sections.
The song represents Kweku Smoke’s latest musical release as the rapper continues to consolidate his presence within Ghana’s contemporary hip hop and Afrobeats scene.
“Faith” brings together two distinctive artistic approaches, combining Kweku Smoke’s rap centred performance with Lasmid’s recognisable melodic delivery to create a collaboration that moves between reflective lyricism and contemporary Ghanaian popular music.
The record was produced by acclaimed Ghanaian sound engineer and producer MOG Beatz, adding another prominent name to the project.
For Kweku Smoke, “Faith” also marks his first official single of 2026, making the release an important return to the music scene after a period away from new solo material.
The collaboration with Lasmid provides the record with an additional vocal dimension, with the two artistes occupying complementary musical spaces throughout the song.
Bola Ray’s prediction has consequently generated attention around the record’s potential awards prospects, particularly as artistes and music industry stakeholders begin positioning their works ahead of the next TGMA season.
The Telecel Ghana Music Awards remains one of Ghana’s most prominent annual platforms for recognising achievements across the country’s music industry, with the Best Collaboration category traditionally attracting significant interest because of the combination of artistes, producers and musical styles represented in each nominated work.
Whether “Faith” ultimately secures a nomination or wins the category will depend on the official eligibility requirements, nomination process and eventual voting or adjudication for the awards. Bola Ray’s comments, however, have added an early industry endorsement to Kweku Smoke and Lasmid’s latest collaboration.
For Kweku Smoke, the release also reinforces his continuing effort to expand his artistic profile beyond conventional hip hop while maintaining the rap focused identity that has distinguished his work.
Lasmid’s contribution, meanwhile, strengthens the song’s melodic character and demonstrates the creative possibilities of bringing together artistes associated with different dimensions of Ghana’s contemporary music landscape.
With MOG Beatz behind the production and the two artistes combining rap and melodic vocals, “Faith” has emerged as one of Kweku Smoke’s notable releases of 2026 and is now attracting early attention ahead of the next TGMA awards cycle.
