Reigning champions Medeama have emerged among the busiest clubs during the transfer period, undertaking a significant restructuring of their playing squad as they prepare to defend their domestic title. The Tarkwa based side have secured Etse Dogli from Heart of Lions on a three year agreement, while Emmanuel Boateng has arrived from Eleven Wonders on a two year contract. Free agent Dominic Frimpong has also joined the champions on a three year deal.

Medeama have further reinforced their squad with Usman Safianu, Abdul Rahman Yaya and Emmanuel Annor from Nations FC, while Emmanuel Fobi has moved from Georgian outfit Dila Gori on a three year contract. The club have also recruited Issah Ibrahim, Monged Abuzaid Salman, Blessing Kwabena Dwamena, Jelillu Osman, Emmanuel Anokye and Ebenezer Adade from Dreams FC, giving the champions considerable depth across several positions.

Port City FC have likewise been active in the transfer market as they prepare for the new campaign. The club have recruited Kwabena Adu Meider, Francis Gyetuah, Stephen Diyou and Gideon Waja from WAFA, while Ishak Suraj has joined from Lebanese club Al Ahly. Samuel Gyimah, Daniel Amissah and Elliot Affotey have also arrived from Heart of Lions, with Daniel Osei Senior completing a move from Hohoe United.

Hearts of Oak have also sought to reinforce their squad with several new additions. The Phobians have signed Abdul Aziz from Swedru All Blacks, while free agent Ebenezer Amoh has also joined the Accra based club. Rockson Kyeremeh and Manuel Osei Djan have arrived from PAC Academy, with Caleb Koranteng, Alex Banso, Prince Amevor, Vicente Anane, Mamadou Kader Kourouma and Dominic Nsobila also added to the squad.

Swedru All Blacks have undergone an equally extensive recruitment exercise, bringing in Mohammed Musah Salifu, David Lartey, Prince Arthur, Kelvin Ampoful, Samuel Osei Kofi, Faisal Chawetey, Vincent Baah Junior, Michael Abrokwa, John Ahuma Ocansey, Godfred Yartey, Andy Koramoah, Kojo Quansah and Latif Blessing.

FC Samartex have strengthened their ranks with the acquisition of Ebenezer Okrah, Prince Affum, Joshua Fuseini and Meshack Adjetey Sowah as the club prepares for another demanding top flight campaign.

Aduana FC have also made a series of additions, recruiting Shawkan Hunalf Mohammed, Samuel Tenedu, Boa At Regain, Stephen Amankona, Abdul Latif Mohammed, Emmanuel Abban, Zakaria Fuseini and Bismark Anim.

AshantiGold have expanded their squad considerably, with Raphael Kodjo Etchonou, Ben Yamine Nassirou Kabore, Kamal Suraje and Kwaku Musah joining the club. The Miners have also added Fatao Seidu, Sirinu Huzaifah, Saddick Ibrahim Abubakar, Ishmael Acquah, William Addo, Alhassan Benny and Thomas Kwabena Osei as they seek to assemble a competitive squad for the new season.

Gold Stars have brought in Nicholas Amekpewu, Claude Shooting Bortey and Kwame Opoku, while Heart of Lions have recruited Francis Odoom, Abdul Jalilu, Edmund Wireko, William Oduro, Pius Baffuor, Sena Ati, Mustapha Yakubu and Stephen Afoakwa.

Berekum Chelsea have also bolstered their squad with Jamal Haruna, Diawisie Taylor, Awuah Dramani, Chyereme Shadirac, Fuseini Zakaria, Zulka Massawudu and Augustine Boakye.

Asante Kotoko have made several notable additions as they seek to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign. The Kumasi giants have recruited goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad alongside Emmanuel Mamah, Koffi Marius Ange Bini, Isaac Opoku Agyemang, Abdoul Kader Tarnagda, Solomon Nsor Asaah, Abdel Wadie Mourad and Umar Ali.

Karela United have similarly pursued an ambitious recruitment strategy, signing Wisdom Jonas Manyina, Frank Ackom, Iddi Mahfuz, Edmund Afurapoe, Kwaku Musah, Angel Ewulla, Collins Ntiful, Issah Abdul Basit, Mohammed Alhassan Mankuyeli, Ebenezer Amegah and Prince Opoku Agyemang.

Vision FC have also added to their squad with Kwadwo Boamah from Hohoe United and Faruk Mohammed from Nations FC.

The scale of recruitment across the division means several clubs are poised to begin the 2026/27 season with substantially transformed playing squads. For many of the teams, the challenge will now extend beyond acquiring new talent, as coaching staffs must integrate the incoming players, establish tactical understanding and develop cohesion before competitive action begins.

With the opening round scheduled between September 4 and September 7, coaches have only a limited period in which to mould their revamped squads into cohesive units capable of competing at the required level.

The extensive transfer activity has consequently raised expectations ahead of the new Ghana Premier League season, with defending champions Medeama, traditional heavyweights such as Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, and ambitious clubs across the division all seeking to use their recruitment programmes to improve their prospects.

As preparations enter their final phase, the effectiveness of these transfer strategies will ultimately be measured on the pitch, where the newly assembled squads will have to translate individual quality and extensive recruitment into consistent performances, victories and, for the leading contenders, a genuine challenge for domestic honours.
