Aduana FC have opened their campaign in the 2026 Nsenkyire Cup with an impressive 3 to 1 victory over reigning Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC as both clubs intensify preparations for the forthcoming 2026/27 football season.
The Dormaa based outfit recovered from an early setback to produce a commanding second half display and secure victory at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Samreboi on Saturday.
Medeama entered the contest with considerable purpose and established their authority during the opening stages of the encounter. The Tarkwa based champions dominated the first 20 minutes and eventually converted their early pressure into the opening goal.
The advantage placed Medeama in a favourable position as the first half progressed, with the reigning league champions maintaining their lead until the interval.
Aduana returned from the dressing room with renewed determination and quickly altered the direction of the contest. Emmanuel Abban restored parity shortly after the resumption, giving the Ogya lads the momentum they needed to mount a sustained response.
The equalising goal transformed the encounter as Aduana increased the pressure and began creating greater difficulty for the Medeama defence.
Abban subsequently completed his personal double to put Aduana in front, before Shawkan Mohammed extended the advantage with a third goal that effectively settled the contest in favour of the Dormaa side.
The 3 to 1 triumph provides Aduana with an encouraging beginning to their participation in the four team pre season competition and gives the club valuable competitive preparation ahead of the new Ghana Premier League campaign.
The Nsenkyire Cup will continue on Sunday, August 23, with Aduana scheduled to meet Togolese club Etoile Filante de Lome, while Medeama will return to action later in the day against FC Samartex 1996.
The competition will reach its conclusion on Monday, August 24, when Medeama face Etoile Filante before FC Samartex encounter Aduana in the final round of scheduled matches.
The tournament brings together Aduana FC, Medeama SC, FC Samartex 1996 and Togolese representatives Etoile Filante de Lome, providing the participating clubs with an opportunity to assess their squads, sharpen their competitive rhythm and fine tune tactical approaches before the commencement of the 2026/27 campaign.
For Aduana, the comeback victory over the reigning Ghanaian champions offers an early indication of their preparedness and provides their technical team with valuable insight into the squad’s performance under competitive conditions.
Medeama, meanwhile, will have the opportunity to respond in their remaining fixtures as they continue preparations to defend their domestic status following their successful league campaign.
With the tournament featuring four clubs from Ghana and Togo, the Nsenkyire Cup is also providing a useful platform for players to gain match fitness, coaches to evaluate tactical combinations and clubs to identify areas requiring further reinforcement before the competitive season begins.
Aduana’s opening victory has therefore given the Ogya lads an important psychological boost, while the remaining fixtures promise further opportunities for all four participating sides to test their readiness ahead of the new football season.
