Four months into his campaign to lead the New Patriotic Party, presidential hopeful Dr. Bryan Acheampong says he has witnessed a remarkable resurgence in the party’s energy and morale. According to him, his candidacy has not only sparked renewed enthusiasm among members but has also helped the NPP rediscover a sense of purpose and unity as it prepares to reclaim political leadership from the National Democratic Congress in the 2028 general elections.
Speaking to delegates in Afigya Sekyere East on Saturday, January 24, Dr. Acheampong recounted his experiences on the campaign trail and described a noticeable shift in the party’s atmosphere. In the early stages of his outreach, he observed caution and hesitation among members, who were still processing past electoral disappointments. Yet, through sustained engagement, conversations, and repeated visits to constituencies across the country, he said the mood has changed significantly.
“When I first visited the polling stations, I sensed hesitation and some unresolved issues that needed attention. However, on my second visit, the atmosphere was completely different. Over the past four months, I have witnessed a renewed spirit, energy, and enthusiasm among party members,” he told delegates. He emphasised that this transformation reflects a deeper readiness within the party to rally behind a unifying vision.
Dr. Acheampong made these remarks as he concluded the second day of the second phase of his nationwide campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, where he met delegates in Afigya Sekyere East and Kwabre East constituencies. He stressed that the restoration of confidence within the NPP is not simply about optimism but also about organisation, cohesion, and a shared commitment to winning the next national elections.
He called on party members to unite behind his leadership, asserting that collective focus is essential if the NPP is to regain political power and implement its agenda effectively. For Dr. Acheampong, the campaign is not only a bid for the party’s nomination but also a vehicle to revive the energy and determination that he believes are crucial for electoral success.
Observers note that the Ashanti leg of the campaign carries symbolic weight, as momentum in the region often serves as a bellwether for broader support within the party. Acheampong’s insistence that the party’s spirit is returning is designed to signal both to delegates and the public that the NPP is ready to present a renewed and confident front in the years leading up to 2028.
In a political landscape still recovering from past setbacks, Dr. Acheampong’s message is clear: restoring morale, unifying members, and building momentum are the first steps toward reclaiming leadership, and his campaign is positioned at the center of that revival.
